As per International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED) paper which draws on the latest urban data from the UN’s Population Division, following are the 11 Indian cities which feature in the list of 100 world’s fastest growing cities:
- Faridabad
- Durg-Bhilainagar in Chhattisgarh (7th ranked)
- Ghaziabad
- Chandigarh
- Guwahati
- Dhanbad
- Bhopal
- Aurangabad
- Vizag
- Surat
- Asansol
Europe which used to have majority of cities in the list now has none in the top 100. Africa has 25 of the world’s fastest growing cities.
